Dr. Johannes Ranke is a founding partner of our law firm. He primarily advises in the areas of sports, media, licensing, and contract law.
He was Managing Director, Sports Data & Licensing at SPORTRADAR AG as well as Head of Licensing & Member of the Strategic Board at SPORT1/DSF Deutsches SportFernsehen GmbH.
At the beginning of his professional career, he worked as a lawyer at DUVINAGE Rechtsanwälte. Dr. Ranke publishes on issues of sports and media law.
Dr. Johannes von Eggelkraut-Gottanka is a founding partner of our firm. He advises in the areas of litigation & dispute resolution, employment law and commercial & distribution law. One focus is on advising small, medium-sized and listed companies on legal issues relating to the distribution of goods and services. In the event of disputes in the context of distribution and supply relationships (e.g. commission, commercial agent compensation, delayed delivery, poor performance, etc.), he represents our clients in and out of court in the enforcement and defence of claims. He has in-depth experience in mass action proceedings (e.g. “Diesel” complex on the side of a participating company).
Prior to founding the firm, he worked as a lawyer in the area of white-collar criminal law at Ufer Knauer Rechtsanwälte as well as at a business law-oriented law firm, primarily in the area of litigation. He is a business mediator (MuCDR). Dr. von Eggelkraut-Gottanka publishes, among other things, on issues of art law, e.g. in the Handelsblatt, and is co-author of the practice guide on copyright contract law “Urhebervertragsrecht”, Berger/Wündisch, Nomos Verlag.
Anna Gerckens is an associate at our law firm. She advises in the areas of litigation and dispute resolution, employment law as well as commercial & distribution law In addition, she supports our sports law practice, in particular in the area of sports betting law.
Anna Gerckens is a lecturer in European and International Law at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and publishes on current topics in this context. Inter alia, she is co-author of the commentary on the Treaty on European Union (TEU) and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) published by C.H. Beck Verlag (2023, 7th edition), in which she comments on the chapter on the free movement of labour.
Anna Gerckens studied at LMU Munich and the Handelshögskolan in Gothenburg, Sweden. She completed her legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Munich, during which she also worked at a major law firm in the area of commercial law in Boston, MA, USA.
Nicolas Rieck is an associate at the law firm since 2024. He primarily advises on sports law, in particular on the drafting of agency, licence and sponsorship agreements and on international civil law. He also supports our clients in general commercial and labour law, commercial and distribution law and litigation & dispute resolution.
Nicolas Rieck studied at the University of Augsburg, specialising in international law. He completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Munich and worked as a research assistant at the firm during this time.
Max Aschenbrenner is Of Counsel of the law firm. As certified specialist lawyer for employment law and business mediator (CVM), he has more than 30 years of experience as a lawyer, primarily in the area of civil and especially employment law.
Among other experiences, he gained know-how as an in-house lawyer during eight years as head of the legal department of Stahlgruber GmbH. From 2001, he was a partner in several internationally oriented medium-sized business law firms in Munich.
In addition, Mr. Aschenbrenner is the Norwegian Honorary Consul in the Free State of Bavaria.
Lawyer and tax advisor Dr. Jack Schiffer is Of Counsel to the firm. His area of practice includes mergers & acquisitions, all areas of corporate law, restructuring law as well as private equity. He has many years of experience in national and international M&A transactions involving strategic and financial investors, including private equity funds. His international focus has been on the USA, China, Austria and Italy. Dr. Schiffer has comprehensively advised multinational corporations as well as medium-sized companies on both the seller and the buyer side. In addition, he has been involved in several corporate law disputes for minority or majority shareholders, some of which lasted many years, and has participated in numerous corporate restructurings.
Before joining the firm, he was a founding partner and for several years managing partner of Advant Beiten.
Dr. Schiffer publishes on the topics of corporate transactions and corporate law. He is a co-commentator of Schwerdtfeger's corporate law commentary, now in its 4th edition.
Since 2009, Dr. Schiffer has been recognized by Best Lawyers in the areas of Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Law.
